GERBER TECHNOLOGY EXPANDS ACCUNEST™ LINE WITH INTRODUCTION OF EXPERT EDITION
Multiple engine capability ensures maximum yields every time
11 August 2006
Connecticut, USA – Gerber Technology announces the launch of AccuNest™ Expert Edition (EE), the latest edition of the company’s new series software products for automatically generating markers. AccuNest EE uses multiple nesting and compaction processors to deliver the best possible material yields every time. This unique multiple engine capability offers never before attained results for high-volume manufacturers with broad product categories.
Based on orders, AccuNest EE creates efficient marker layouts fully automatically. It can also shorten markers made manually or automatically by compacting the pieces to eliminate excess material between parts. Users realize savings in fabric utilization for existing and new markers that can result in substantial financial benefits.
Cintas, North America's premiere work uniform supplier, has been a beta test site for AccuNest Expert Edition and an active participant in the development process. “We anticipate AccuNest will be especially beneficial during high volume work levels and vacation/absentee periods. Compared to manual marking, we can achieve fast, equivalent or better results on tested styles,” commented Liza Durbin, manager of product development for logistics and manufacturing, Cintas. “Savings on selected styles range from $0.0291 to $0.0469 per unit. There’s no doubt about the added savings we’ll capture by running the program 24/7. It requires minimal training, no (employee) benefits, limited operator involvement, and there’s no turnover.”
AccuNest EE Highlighted Features
• Automatically nests costing and production markers to generate accurate and fast consumption calculations and generate efficiencies that satisfy the demands of mass production.
• Shortens markers by compacting pieces to eliminate waste between parts for improved materials savings.
• Automatically adjusts markers to accommodate fabric width changes eliminating the need to manually remake markers.
• Automatically detects and corrects overlaps caused by style or size substitutions.
• Floats pieces away from each other automatically after marker optimizations to improve cut quality without making the marker longer.
• Groups pieces by size or bundle into sections to maintain proximity of pieces in the marker for shade variations.
• Saves the marker with the shortest length, ensuring the best possible marker every time. • Includes Gerber’s UltraQueue™ software:
o Introduces Quick View to enable viewing of marker and statistics from any type of AccuMark seat.
o Allows multiple users to submit markers from AccuMark workstations for automatic processing.
o Fast and easy identification of jobs in process for at-a-glance comparison of process times, marker lengths and yields.
o Export capability to CSV file for reporting and administration.
“With its multiple engine design, including a compaction engine for shortening markers, AccuNest Expert Edition will allow our customers to realize greater material savings from both their existing marker library and new markers they create,” said Angela Cruz, product manager, AccuMark family products, Gerber Technology. “Gerber continues to support our customer base by listening to their needs and those of the industry. With AccuNest EE, we are providing a nesting solution that achieves material savings at the level of a human marker maker while far exceeding the speed at which a person can nest the marker.”
