2011 acquired by Vector Capital

In August of 2011, Gerber was acquired by Vector Capital, a San Francisco-based, global private equity firm specializing in the technology sector. Vector manages more than $2 billion in equity capital and makes only a handful of investments each year. Vector views Gerber as a significant platform that reinforces the strength of its portfolio.

In the late-1960s, Joseph Gerber invented the revolutionary GERBERcutter which automatically cut large amounts of material with a computer-controlled knife. The first GERBERcutter, used by General Motors for over 20 years to cut seating materials, has been on display in Washington D.C. at the Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of American History.
