1968

In the late-1960s, Joseph Gerber invented the revolutionary GERBERcutter which automatically cut large amounts of material with a computer-controlled knife. The first GERBERcutter, used by General Motors for over twenty years to cut seating materials, is permanently on display in Washington D.C. at the Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of American History.
