Virtek Vision International today launched the Iris™ Spatial Positioning System (SPS), a breakthrough precision assembly system that accelerates manufacturing by eliminating costly templates and jigs and ensures products are manufactured as designed. Iris combines the use of laser projection with 3D vision technology to create a new precision assembly technique called virtual tooling. Iris SPS locates objects in 3D space and quickly locks onto CAD-specified assembly positions to guide the user through the assembly process.
